Dana, you are absolutely right! It’s so sad that I went through 2 divorces, and 2 bankruptcies to finally learn this. Now, I don’t want a home or a car because if you can’t pay cash for it forget it. You can live without credit, it is possible, and living debt free has caused me to save more money and have more in the long run. You just have to manage what you have WISELY!

The course is called Cosmotology. Hair,makeup and Biology. Health and Beauty. There is more to study then just holding scissors. Our Community College has a program where the students do cut people’s hair for $10.00. That way,you are supporting potential new comers to the industry.

I always brought my lunch. That way you know what you have. It is also healthier and your choice. I bought soup from my work place’s restaurant and my potato soup accidentally had sugar in it. When the staff found out,they thought I was lying and staff were embarrassed. I no longer work there. Sharen

Cut your own hair? I used a "FlowBee" for about 15-16 years before it quit (just happened last week) and the replacement should be here by next Monsay! As I remember, the first one cost about $275; the new one cost $313. Not only have I saved a pile of money, but also the time and gas to go and come for an appointment, and the frustration!!! I nearly always had to do some re-cutting.

Wow! I'm Gen-X, don't own a home (or much else) but have no debt. I thought most Gen-Xers were doing better. Now I've read the comments I realise I belong to a Gen of complete Arses, the sort that come on vids for people with problems so they can gloat about how much money they have. I genuinely hadn't realised. The Milenials sound so much more mature and, ya know, human.

I've had one credit card since I was 21 (now 37) and first travelled abroad on my own. I wanted to be able to buy a ticket home in an emergency, if there was any problem with my flight. I have used it for the odd online purchase since, as it offers better fraud protection than a debit card, and I never carry a balance month to month.

Never forget going to your local library. Most of them are completely free or very cheap. My local library has so much more then just books, DVDs, cd, books on cd, free wifi bricks to check up, board games, puzzles, crafts to take home, snow shoes, launchpads , video games, ECT.

Friends of ours almost always order one meal and share it, they also order water to drink. They can very well afford ordering whatever they want but they share.

We were gifted a Costco membership for part of our Christmas gift from a daughter and son-in-law. Not sure we will use enough to make it worth it? May not renew? We will see if it’s worth it
